Supporting you through periods of Anxiety...

We cannot change the world but we can change the way we live in the world

It is normal for people to feel fearful or worried from time to time. It becomes an issue when they worry all the time or worry much more than others in a similar or the same situation. This severe anxiety can cause distress and can seriously affect everyday lives.

Help is required if the anxiety is having an impact on health or even other people’s safety, or when it stops someone from enjoying and achieving. Talking with trusted friends and family can help. If this does not prove effective in the medium to long term, the type of specialist help needed will depend on the cause of anxiety.

Specialist support often takes the form of a talking therapy, for example, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. Its goal is to change the patterns of thinking or behaviour that are behind people's difficulties, and so change the way they feel.

We cannot always control or change events around us, especially during times of regional or national upheaval. However, it is reassuring to know that – with help – we can change the way we feel about those things, so we may respond to and cope with them better. Ultimately this can help us lead healthier, more productive and happier lives.
