Clinical Fields
It can be a minefield of information for patients seeking help and support. And it doesn’t help that many of the terms sound the same! Read our summary to each of the clinical fields represented in Welltech Medical’s network:
Consultant Psychiatrist:
A psychiatrist is a physician who specialises in psychiatry, the branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, study, and treatment of mental disorders. Psychiatrists are medical doctors, unlike psychologists, and assess patients to determine whether their symptoms are the result of a physical illness, a combination of physical and mental ailments, or strictly psychiatric.
Psychologist
Psychology is the scientific study of people, the mind, and behaviour. Psychologists attempt to understand the role of mental functions in individual and social behaviour.

A therapist providing psychotherapy is called a psychotherapist. Psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling are talking therapies. They are used to treat emotional problems and mental health issues. As well as talking, the therapy could use a range of methods including art, music, drama, and movement.
Occupational Therapist
An occupational therapist uses specific activities to limit the effects of disability and promote independence in all aspects of daily life.
Arts Therapist
An art therapist is a psychological therapist who has arts-based experience and training in psychological interventions using drama, music, or – in our case, art, - as their primary mode of communication.
Family Therapist / Systemic Psychotherapist
Family Therapy helps people in a close relationship help each other. It enables family members, couples, and others who care about each other to express and explore thoughts and emotions safely, to understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, build on strengths and make useful changes in their relationships and their lives. Individuals also can find Family Therapy helpful, as an opportunity to reflect and strengthen important relationships.
Family and systemic psychotherapists also work with the 'systems' or teams of people based in the caring professions and in a variety of settings such as in social care, schools, hospitals, etc.

version of yourself.
