I am a consultant psychiatrist who considers working with children and families as a great privilege. My vision is maintaining excellence in clinical practice and continued advocacy for young people and families with experiences of emotional, behavioral and mental health problems. I have been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry since 2009 and on the specialist register for child and adolescent psychiatry since 2015. My training, experiences and academic work has provided me with the knowledge and skills in practicing psychiatry in various settings and managing a broad range of psychiatric conditions. I am trained in several psychiatric evaluation tools including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule. I enjoy teaching and in particular providing developmentally appropriate psychoeducation to young people and families.

I recognise that it is often a difficult and worrying period for families when children and young people are affected by emotional and mental health problems. This is the start point - listening and understanding because mental health difficulties impact individuals in uniques and diverse ways. Closely following on this, is collaborative working with young people and families in identifying appropriate care plans. I utilise the holistic approach in providing expertise from my experiences and evidence-based medicine, and also the psychosocial model in assessments, formulation and diagnosing. When indicated, I am open to working and liaising with other mental health professionals.
